LICE AND SCABIES TREATMENTS
All products should be applied and removed exactly as directed. A nit comb must be used to physically remove head lice and nits after treatment.

dimethicone	Nix Ultra	OTC	soln	Adults and Children: <2yrs: Not established. ≥2yrs: Apply to dry hair, completely saturating hair and scalp. Allow to remain on hair for 10mins, then wash thoroughly with regular shampoo (do not use conditioner) and warm water. Towel dry hair. Remove lice and nits with provided comb. Repeat after ≥7 days if living lice still observed. Caution: Mineral oil or silicone allergy.
ivermectin 0.5%	Sklice	OTC	lotion	Adults and Children: <6mos: Not established. ≥6mos: Apply sufficient amount (up to 1 tube) to dry hair to thoroughly coat the hair and scalp. Leave for 10mins, then rinse off with water.
malathion 0.5%	—	Rx	lotion	Adults and Children: <6yrs: Not established. ≥6yrs: Apply to dry hair until hair and scalp are thoroughly wet. Let hair dry naturally (do not use blow dryer or other heat source). Shampoo and rinse after 8–12hrs; remove dead lice and eggs with nit comb. May repeat once after 7–9 days.
permethrin 1%	Nix	OTC	cream rinse	Adults and Children: <2mos: Not established. ≥2mos: Wash hair with shampoo (do not use conditioner), then rinse. Apply to towel-dried hair, saturating hair and scalp. Allow to remain on hair for 10mins, then rinse with warm water. Remove nits with provided comb. Repeat after ≥7 days if living lice still observed. Caution: Ragweed allergy.
piperonyl butoxide/pyrethrum extract	RID Lice Killing Shampoo*	OTC	shampoo	Adults and Children: <2yrs: Consult physician. ≥2yrs: Apply thoroughly to dry hair or other affected area. After 10mins, add water to form lather then rinse thoroughly; towel dry. Remove nits and lice with nit comb. Pubic lice: treat consorts also. Must repeat in 7–10 days.
spinosad 0.9%	Natroba	Rx	topical susp	Adults and Children: <6mos: Not recommended. ≥6mos: Apply to dry scalp and hair until adequately covered; use up to 120mL (one bottle). Leave on for 10mins, then rinse off thoroughly with warm water. May repeat treatment once if live lice is seen after 7 days. May remove dead lice and nits with nit comb.
SCABICIDES
crotamiton 10%	Eurax	Rx	emollient-base lotion	Adults: Thoroughly massage into entire cleansed body from chin down; reapply after 24hrs. Change clothing and bed linen next day and bathe after 48hrs. Children: Not recommended.
permethrin 5%	—	Rx	cream	Adults and Children: <2mos: Not recommended. ≥2mos: Massage into skin from head to soles of feet. Remove 8–14hrs later by washing. One treatment is usually effective; may repeat in 14 days if living mites are still present. Infants: also treat scalp, temples and forehead. Caution: pyrethrins, pyrethroids, or chrysanthemum allergy.
spinosad 0.9%	Natroba	Rx	topical susp	Adults and Children: <4yrs: Not established. ≥4yrs: Apply to skin and completely cover from neck to soles of the feet. If balding scalp: also apply to scalp, hairline, temples, and forehead. Allow to dry for 10mins before getting dressed. Leave on for at least 6hrs, then wash off thoroughly.
