Primatene Tablets Indications

Indications

Temporary relief of mild symptoms of intermittent asthma (eg, wheezing, tightness of chest, shortness of breath).

Primatene Tablets Dosage and Administration

Adult

Do not exceed recommended dose. 1–2 tabs every 4 hours as needed. Max: 12 tabs per 24 hours.

Children

<12yrs: not recommended.

Primatene Tablets Contraindications

Contraindications

During or within 14 days of MAOIs.

Contraindications

If currently taking a prescription monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) (eg, certain drugs taken for depression, psychiatric or emotional conditions, or Parkinson’s disease), or for 2 weeks after stopping the MAOI drug.
History of an allergic reaction to this product or any of its ingredients.

Warnings/Precautions

Asthma associated hospitalization. Cardiac disease. Hypertension. Diabetes. Thyroid disease. Seizures. Narrow angle glaucoma. Psychoses. Difficulties urinating. Enlarged prostate gland. Seek medical evaluation if symptoms worsen or do not improve within 60mins, or need 12 tabs in any day, or use >8 tabs/day for 3 or more days a week, or have >2 asthma attacks/week. Pregnancy. Nursing mothers.

Warnings/Precautions

Primatene tablets will not give you asthma relief as quickly as an inhaled bronchodilator.

Interactions

Avoid caffeine-containing products, stimulant dietary supplements. Caution with other sympathomimetics (eg, phenylephrine, pseudoephedrine, ephedrine), antiasthmatics, weight control agents, antidepressants, antipsychotics, sedatives.
