Mechanism of Action

Ketaconozole is a boad spectrum synthetic anti-fungal agent which inhibits the in vitro growth of certain dermatophytes and yeasts by altering the permeability of the cell membrane. Studies suggest that ketoconazole impairs the synthesis of ergosterol, which is a vital component of fungal cell membranes.

Indications

Dandruff.

Nizoral A-d Shampoo Dosage and Administration

Adult

Wet hair. Lather, rinse, repeat. Use once every 3–4 days for up to 8 weeks, then as needed. Reevaluate if no improvement in 2–4 weeks.

Children

Not recommended.
