Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

Terazosin Dosage and Administration

Adult

See full labeling. Initially 1mg at bedtime. Titrate to 10mg once daily; usual max 20mg/day. Reevaluate if no response after 6 weeks.

Fecal (60%), renal (40%). Half life: ~12hrs.

Caution with verapamil, other antihypertensives.

Adverse Reactions

Syncope (esp. 1st dose), dizziness, somnolence, asthenia, nausea, nasal congestion, palpitations, impotence, orthostatic hypotension, blurred vision, peripheral edema; priapism (rare).

Hypertension.

Terazosin Dosage and Administration

Adult

1 mg at bedtime, then increase slowly. Usually: 1–5mg once daily in the AM; max 20mg/day. Monitor at peak (2–3 hours after dose) and trough. If BP response is substantially diminished at 24 hours, may increase dose or give in 2 divided doses. If hypotensive effects occur at peak, consider twice daily dosing. If another antihypertensive is added, dosage reduction and retitration may be necessary.
